Speaker Profile: Marty Wingate
Marty Wingate is a Seattle-based writer and speaker about gardens and travel. She is the author of the Potting Shed Mysteries, about Pru Parke, an American who moves to England in hopes of becoming the head gardener at an historic English garden and gets tangled up in a murder investigation wherever she goes. The publishing date of the first book, The Garden Plot, TBA. Her new how-to gardening book is Landscaping for Privacy (Timber Press, December 2011).
Martys garden articles appear in a variety of publications, including Fine Gardening, American Gardener, Country Gardens, and Gardening How-to. She is a weekly guest on the Greendays segment of Weekday on KUOW (94.9 FM), Seattles NPR station. Marty and her colleagues on Greendays won a 2010 Silver Trowel award from the Garden Writers Association for on-air talent.
Marty has a masters degree in urban horticulture from the University of Washington, and is a member of Sisters in Crime, the Pacific Northwest Writers Association, and the Garden Writers Association, as well as the Arboretum Foundation, the Northwest Horticultural Society, and the Royal Horticultural Society.
