Speaker Profile:  Ciscoe Morris

Picture
Ciscoe Morris is one of the most recognized gardening experts in the area.  His trademark exclamation of “oh-la-la” is known to home gardeners and professionals alike.   So where did that accent come from?  Wisconsin.  Ciscoe Morris grew up in Wauwatosa, WI before a visit to the Northwest sparked his love for the area.  He’s made Seattle his home since the early 70s.

Once here, he turned his gardening passion into a profession.  He earned an AA from South Seattle Community College’s Landscape Horticulture program and then earned a master’s degree from Seattle University.  At that campus, Ciscoe dug in, quite literally, becoming the University’s Landscape and Grounds Manager for 24 years.

Along the way, he found an opportunity to bring his delight of gardening and humorous approach to gardening advice to viewers across Western Washington and throughout the Northwest on KING 5 and Northwest Cable News (NWCN).

His weekly show “Gardening with Ciscoe” with co-host Meeghan Black of KING 5’s Evening Magazine airs Saturday mornings at 10:30.  Segments from the show also appear regularly in KING 5 newscasts on Tuesdays, Thursdays and in the weekend morning news.   Friday night at 6:00, NWCN viewers can get answers on their gardening questions from “Gardening with Ciscoe Live.”

In addition to his television shows, Ciscoe writes a column for the Thursday edition of the Seattle Times; hosts a two-hour weekly radio show on 97.3 KIRO FM; makes regular appearances on “Gardening by the Yard' on the Home and Garden Television (HGTV); and is the author of a top-selling garden book, Ask Ciscoe and co-author of books on roses and perennials.

With all this, Ciscoe still makes time for his Seattle garden, which has been featured in several publications, his dogs Fred and Ruby and combining his love of gardening with his love of travel by leading garden tours all over the world.
