Topic: "Successful Rhododendron Cultivation in the Pacific Northwest"
In this lecture, Atsuko will introduce some of the unique rhododendrons and offer tips on how to grow them successfully in the Pacific Northwest climate. There are rising problems of pests and disease in our region, due to the warmer and drier summer. Atsuko will explain how to avoid those problems in your garden, as well as cultivation tips to make your rhododendrons thrive.
Speaker Profile: Atsuko Gibson

Atsuko Gibson is the Nursery Manager/Assistant Curator at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden.
Originally from Japan, Atsuko has a degree in horticulture from the University of Arkansas and has interned at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
She propagates species rhododendrons from seeds, cuttings, and graftings while managing the 2 acre nursery at the RSBG.
She has been with the RSBG for 11 years.
